Find your nationality below to check what's required. Since August 2023, Vietnam's eVisa has been open to citizens of every country and territory worldwide, so almost everyone can apply online. Some passports also get a visa-free entry window for short stays.
Vietnam grants short-stay visa-free entry to a select group of nationalities: 24 countries for 45 days (most of Western Europe plus Japan and South Korea), the ASEAN members along with Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia for 30 days, the Philippines for 21 days, Brunei and Myanmar for 14 days, and Chile and Panama for 90 days. Every other nationality, and every traveler staying longer than their visa-free window, needs an eVisa, which we can process for you. Since Resolution 127/NQ-CP (August 2023), the eVisa has been open to citizens of every country and territory worldwide. Search or filter the list below.
Citizens of the following countries can enter Vietnam without applying for a visa in advance, for the period shown. Everyone else can apply for the eVisa online.

Note: Even with visa-free entry, an eVisa is still useful for stays longer than your visa-free window, or for multiple-entry flexibility on a regional trip. The eVisa works alongside visa-free entitlements; it does not replace them. A few cases still need an embassy visa rather than an eVisa, including British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders and North Korean ordinary passports.
