General
Do I need a visa to visit Vietnam?

It depends on your nationality and how long you're staying. Vietnam currently grants visa-free entry to citizens of 27 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Norway, and others, for stays up to 45 days. ASEAN passport holders get 14 to 30 days visa-free. Chilean citizens get 90 days. For everyone else, including the US, Canada, Australia, India, and most of the world, the eVisa is required. Is this website affiliated with the Vietnamese government?

No. Vietnam Visa by BDA is a private visa-assistance company operated by BDA Tech & Media JSC in Hanoi. We submit applications to the Vietnam Immigration Department on your behalf. We are not the government, and we are not the official portal.

The official government portal is at evisa.gov.vn. Our service fee covers application review, error correction, English-language support, urgent processing tiers, and human follow-up, so you don't have to handle the process yourself.

How long does a Vietnam eVisa last?

You choose the duration at the time of application:

  • 1-month visa: valid for 30 days from your stated arrival date
  • 3-month visa: valid for 90 days from your stated arrival date

You also choose between single entry (one trip in/out) and multiple entry (unlimited entries within the validity period). You can leave Vietnam earlier than your eVisa expiry without penalty.

Can I extend my Vietnam eVisa?

Yes, but only from inside Vietnam, and the process must be handled by a licensed Vietnamese travel agency or law office on your behalf. Immigration doesn't accept individual extension applications. Extension costs are separate from the original eVisa and typically run $80 to $200 depending on the duration. Plan to apply for the extension at least 7 working days before your eVisa expires.

Which nationalities are exempt from needing a Vietnam visa?

The current visa-exempt list includes the UK (45 days), France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Japan, and South Korea, all 45 days, extended to 2028 under Resolution 229/NQ-CP from August 2025. The same resolution added a further 12 European countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland) for 45 days through 14 August 2028. ASEAN nationals (Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei) get 14 to 30 days visa-free. Chilean citizens get 90 days.

eVisa Specifics
What is a Vietnam eVisa?

An electronic visa issued by Vietnam's Immigration Department, delivered to your email as a PDF. There is no sticker in your passport, just a printed (or phone-displayed) PDF with a QR code and barcode that Immigration scans on arrival. Available to citizens of every country and territory since 15 August 2023 (Resolution 127/NQ-CP). It replaced the older "visa on arrival" workflow for most travelers.

Who is eligible for a Vietnam eVisa?

Nationals of every country and territory are eligible following the August 2023 expansion. You must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned exit from Vietnam, not be on Vietnam's prior-overstay watchlist, and be traveling for tourism, family visits, conferences, or short-term business. Not employment, study, or long-term residency, which require different visa categories.

Which entry points accept the Vietnam eVisa?

Eighty-three entry points as of December 2025 (Resolution 389/NQ-CP, which expanded the list from 42), including all major international airports (Hanoi Noi Bai, Ho Chi Minh Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Cat Bi, Phu Bai), major land borders with Cambodia, Laos, and China (including Lao Bao, Moc Bai, Huu Nghi), and seaports such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh.

Can I use a Vietnam eVisa at land borders?

Yes, and this is one of the biggest improvements over the legacy visa-on-arrival system. Major land crossings from Cambodia (Moc Bai, Ha Tien), Laos (Lao Bao, Cau Treo, Bo Y), and China (Huu Nghi, Mong Cai) accept the eVisa, along with sea entries through Ha Long, Hai Phong, and other ports. Present your printed eVisa and passport at the border post.

What's the difference between single-entry and multiple-entry eVisa?

A single-entry visa allows you to enter Vietnam once. If you leave (even for a day trip to Cambodia or Laos), the visa expires. You'd need a new one to re-enter. A multiple-entry visa allows unlimited entries within the validity period. Multiple-entry is worth the extra $30 if you're planning a regional trip with side-jumps, or if there's any chance of an unplanned exit-and-return.

Visa on Arrival (We Don't Offer This, but Here's the Context)
What is Vietnam visa on arrival?

"Visa on arrival" (VOA) was the standard process before 2023: travelers got a pre-approval letter from an agency, presented it at the airport, paid a stamping fee in cash, queued for the stamp, then went through immigration. It was airport-only, slow, and cash-dependent.

Is visa on arrival still available?

Technically still available for some scenarios (medical emergencies, certain diplomatic categories), but for ordinary tourism and business travel, the eVisa has effectively replaced it. We don't process visa-on-arrival letters anymore. We only offer the eVisa, which is faster, accepted at more entry points, and doesn't require cash at the airport.

How does visa on arrival compare to the eVisa?

The eVisa wins on basically every dimension for typical travelers:

  • Entry points: eVisa accepted at 83 (airports + land + sea). VOA only at 7 major international airports.
  • Delivery: eVisa = PDF by email before you fly. VOA = stamp collected on arrival.
  • Privacy: eVisa = individual document. VOA = often a group approval letter listing other travellers' names alongside yours.

That's why we no longer offer VOA processing, and why we recommend the eVisa to every applicant.

Tourist & Business Travel
Is there a specific Vietnam tourist visa?

Not as a separate category, no. Vietnam's eVisa covers tourism, family visits, attending conferences, and short-term business activities under a single document. There is no longer a meaningful "tourist visa" vs. "business visa" distinction for short-stay travelers. The eVisa handles both.

Do I need a business visa for Vietnam?

For most short-term business activities (meetings, conferences, market visits, signing contracts) the eVisa covers you. Pick the 3-month multiple-entry option if you'll be visiting more than once. A separate work permit is required only if you're taking up employment in Vietnam (i.e., being paid by a Vietnamese entity), which is a different process entirely, handled with your employer's HR team.

Application Process
How do I apply through your service?

Visit our application form and complete the four-step process: applicant info, trip detail, review, and payment. Under 10 minutes total. Our team then reviews your application within 2 hours of payment and submits it to Vietnam Immigration. Your eVisa PDF arrives by email within the processing tier you selected.

How long does it take to get my Vietnam eVisa?

Three tiers:

  • Normal: 5 to 10 business days
  • Urgent: 2 business days (+$45 per applicant)
  • Super Urgent: 1 business day (+$85 per applicant)

For sub-24-hour travel, call us at +84 832 320 320 before paying so we can confirm capacity.

What documents do I need?

A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned exit from Vietnam, a clear scan of your passport bio page, and a recent passport-style portrait photo (plain white background, taken in the last 6 months, no glasses). That's it. No proof of accommodation, return tickets, or financial statements is required for the eVisa.

Can I apply on behalf of someone else?

Yes. You can submit applications for up to 10 applicants in one order, and the payment card holder doesn't have to be one of the travelers. This is common for family bookings, group tours, and business trip arrangers.

What happens after I submit my application?

Within 2 hours (during office hours, 08:00 to 21:00 (GMT+7), seven days a week), our team reviews your application. If everything is correct, we submit it to Vietnam Immigration and you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking reference. If we spot a typo, mismatch, or photo issue, we email you to fix it before submitting. No extra cost for corrections.

Fees & Payment
How much does a Vietnam eVisa cost?

Through our service: $54 for 1-month single entry, $84 for 1-month multiple, $94 for 3-month single, and $104 for 3-month multiple, all per applicant, with the government stamp fee included. See the full fee breakdown.

What payment methods do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and JCB. Card payments are processed securely through OnePay, our PCI-DSS-compliant payment partner. We don't store full card numbers.

Can I get a refund if my visa is denied?

If your application or entry is declined, we refund you the full amount you paid us. If we identify an issue that would cause rejection before we submit, you also get a full refund. To cancel or make free changes, email us within 5 to 10 minutes of applying, before your application is auto-processed; once your approval letter has been issued, the visa fee is non-refundable and any amendment is charged. Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.

What does your service fee pay for?

For a small nominal fee on top of the government stamp fee, we do the work you'd otherwise have to do yourself: review every application for errors, email you to fix typos before submission, offer urgent processing tiers, provide English-language support, follow up if Immigration delays a response, and refund you in full if your application is declined or we can't deliver on time. We make the process effortless so you can focus on your trip, not the paperwork.

Problems & Support
I made a mistake on my application, what do I do?

Email support@vietnamvisa.govt.vn or call +84 832 320 320 immediately. If we haven't submitted to Immigration yet, we fix it at no cost. If it's already been submitted, we may need to re-file. For Normal processing, this typically adds 1 to 2 days; for Urgent or Super Urgent, contact us right away because timing matters.

I haven't received my eVisa, what should I do?

Check your spam/junk folder first. About 5% of confirmations end up there. If you've passed the processing deadline for your chosen tier and there's nothing in spam, reply to your order confirmation email or call our hotline. We can pull up your application status with Immigration directly and re-send the PDF.

What if I'm traveling in less than 24 hours?

Call us first at +84 832 320 320 before submitting payment. Super Urgent is technically a 1-business-day tier, so sub-24-hour travel needs us to confirm capacity. If we can't deliver in time, we'll tell you upfront and refund. Better that than letting you pay and miss the flight.
